HashCalc Pro

HashCalc Pro is a native macOS utility that computes multiple hashes and checksums in a single pass, helps you verify digests against saved values, and can optionally check supported results with VirusTotal - without sending whole files off your machine for the core workflow.

Pick the algorithms you care about, run them together, and see everything in one place. Large inputs are read incrementally with progress feedback so the app stays responsive on long jobs.

Who it is for

HashCalc Pro is aimed at anyone who lives next to checksums and digests - not only power users at the shell.

What you can do

Algorithms

HashCalc Pro supports 48 algorithms, including MD and SHA families, SHA-3 and Keccak, RIPEMD, Tiger, BLAKE2 and BLAKE3, CRC and Adler-32, xxHash and XXH3, Murmur3, FNV, Jenkins one-at-a-time, Whirlpool, Panama, and GOST-94 variants - so release checksums, security reviews, and odd legacy formats can live in one app.

Output and formatting

Results are shown in hexadecimal with flexible layout: uppercase or lowercase, plain hex, colon-separated bytes, C-style literals, or custom prefixes and separators when you need to match a spec or paste into code.

Sidecar files and verification

For file hashing, you can save results as a sidecar .hash file (JSON) next to the source. Open a saved file later to compare against new runs, or save manually when you archive a release. When a matching sidecar already exists, the app can prompt you to verify against stored values instead of only recalculating - handy for integrity checks and download validation.

VirusTotal

With a personal API key, you can query VirusTotal from MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256 results on demand. Optional behavior includes automatic lookup after calculation, detection alerts, and settings that respect public versus premium API rate limits - so quick triage stays inside your normal workflow.
